❤️Why you will love this Pumpkin Margarita recipe

    • 🍂 A Unique Fall Twist – This PUMPKIN MARGARITA RECIPE is a creative and seasonal spin on the classic margarita, perfect for embracing autumn vibes.
    • 🍊🎃Balanced Flavor Profile – The combination of pumpkin spice, orange zest, and maple syrup creates a warm, cozy flavor profile that’s rich, refreshing, and fun to sip.
    • 🍸Versatile and Festive – Whether for a holiday gathering or a quiet evening, this is the perfect cocktail and the perfect complement for any fall occasion!

    🍽 Equipment

    • Small saucepan for cooking the pumpkin spice syrup
    • Cocktail shaker or mason jars
    • Your favorite margarita glass

    📝Ingredients and Substitutions

The pumpkin flavors in this margarita come from a rich, homemade pumpkin syrup.
While typical margaritas often use agave syrup or agave nectar, this recipe relies on natural ingredients to create an indulgent pumpkin syrup. With pure pumpkin puree and warm spices, this simple syrup delivers bold pumpkin spice flavor, perfectly infusing your cocktail with the essence of fall.

    Pumpkin Spice Syrup Ingredients

This easy-to-make syrup is the key to creating the rich flavors of this pumpkin margarita!

    Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Syrup

See the Printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for quantities

    • Pumpkin Puree, Maple Syrup, and Water are the base for this syrup.
    • Orange zest – the bright, citrusy flavor of orange peel is the perfect complement to warm pumpkin spices. We use orange zest to infuse a subtle citrus balance to the warm spice, but lemon zest can substitute in a pinch.
    • Vanilla Extract and Pumpkin Pie Spice – use store-bought or homemade (see recipe below).

    Margarita Ingredients

This simple yet flavorful combination creates the ultimate fall-inspired margarita.

    Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Margarita
    • Your homemade Pumpkin Spice Syrup
    • Apple Cider
    • Tequila – I use reposado tequila in this recipe, but you can also use blanco tequila, silver tequila,, or your favorite tequila!
    • Orange Liqueur – options like Triple Sec or Grand Marnier work beautifully. If you’re out of liqueur, Orange Juice is a suitable substitute.
    • Fresh Lime Juice – Lime adds the perfect tang, but Lemon Juice can be used in a pinch if needed.

    Cinnamon Sugar Rim Ingredients

This sweet, spiced, and slightly smoky rim adds the perfect finishing touch to your pumpkin spice margarita!

    • A Lime Wedge
    • Coarse Salt, Sugar, and Ground Cinnamon.
    • A sprinkle of Cayenne Pepper – adjust based on your spice preference for a touch of heat.
    • For Garnish - Cinnamon Stick, Lime Wedge, Anise Starts (optional).

    🍹Instructions

Step 1: Make the Pumpkin Spice Syrup

    • Combine the pumpkin syrup ingredients in a small saucepan — pumpkin puree, maple syrup, water, orange zest, and pumpkin pie spice. Cook over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally for 3-5 minutes. This step allows the flavors to infuse and blend.
    • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let the syrup cool completely before using it in your margarita.
    Instructions for Pumpkin Spice Syrup

    Step 2: Prepare the Glass

Create the perfect sugar-rimmed glass for your cocktail! The combination of salty, sweet, and spice makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the overall flavor and mouth feel.

On a small plate, mix the cinnamon sugar rim ingredients: coarse salt, sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the margarita glass into the mixture, twisting gently to coat the rim evenly. This simple step elevates your margarita, adding an extra layer of flavor and texture to each sip!

    Step 3: Prepare the Margarita

Combine apple cider, tequila, orange Liqueur, pumpkin syrup, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker or mason jar filled halfway with ice. Give it a good shake until the mixture is well chilled. Strain into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.

Congratulations! You now have the ultimate PUMPKIN SPICE MARGARITA COCKTAIL— perfectly spiced, refreshing, and full of fall vibes. Cheers!
