Ingredients
1Fresh Lime

3ouncesCachaça Liqueursee notes
4ozGuava Nectar Reductionrecipe below or Guava Puree
Instructions
STEP 1: MAKE THE GUAVA NECTAR REDUCTION
Pour 2 Cups of Guava Nectar into a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat until it reduces by half (about 10-15 minutes). Let it cool down.
For every 8-oz cup of Guava Nectar, you get approximately 1/2 cup (4 ounces) of Guava reduction or the equivalent to One-Caipirinha cocktail. This recipe uses 2-cups of Guava Nectar, so you get Two-Caipirinhas. Refrigerate any leftover nectar.
STEP 2: PREPARE THE COCKTAIL
Begin by cutting the lime lengthwise into 2 pieces, then cut again in half. As shown in the photo, you'll end up with 4 longitudinal quarter pieces. Trim off the white membrane separating the sections. Cut crosswise into 8 pieces and place them in your serving glass.
Add the sugar, then use a muddler to press down on the lime and sugar. This releases the lime juice and mixes it with the sugar, creating a balanced, tangy-sweet base.
Add the homemade guava nectar reduction and Cachaça, then fill the glass with ice. Stir everything together with a cocktail spoon. Take a sip and let this tropical cocktail take you straight to the beaches of Brazil!

Notes
Fresh lime is vital to the classic Caipirinha flavor. Store bought lime juice is not recommended.
Granulated sugar is typical for Caipirinhas. While some might suggest using simple syrup, traditional recipes get their zest by muddling lime and sugar.
Cachaça is a Brazilian spirit made from sugar cane, like rum. I use Leblon Cachaça but feel free to use your favorite brand.
